We firmly believe that books will serve as a vital cultural bridge between the people of Poland and Korea at this year’s Warsaw International Book Fair. This platform will foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures. Under the theme, “Światy Łączone Słowami” (Worlds Bridged through Words), we are committed to helping Polish audiences gain a better understanding of the Republic of Korea and our culture through books. With the collaboration of Polish publishing houses, we will showcase the vibrant world of Korean literature through more than fifteen book talks, lectures, and dialogues. Korean best-selling authors will engage with Polish readers, and professors and translators active in the field will provide insights into all-around aspects of Korean literature and books. Additionally, we will feature a range of colorful events showcasing contemporary Korean culture and arts, including webtoon (digital comics) exhibitions, film screenings, music concerts, food events, and so on.
The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Cultural Center can plan all of these programs thanks to the cooperation of public institutions of Korea like the Literature Translation Institute of Korea (LTI Korea), Korean Manhwa Contents Agency (KOMACON), and Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (KPIPA). We are also deeply grateful to the many Polish publishers who have contributed to this year’s events, including Copernicus Center Press, GW Foksal, Kultura Gniewu, Kwiaty Orientu, Magiczne, Mova, Sonia Draga, Tajfuny, Waneko, Jaguar, Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, and Znak (alphabetical order). Moreover, DAESANG Corp., one of the largest companies in Korea, also contributed in order to show Korean food through this Fair. Last but certainly not least, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the History and Culture Foundation (Fundacja Historia i Kultura), the dedicated organizer of this fantastic event. We extend our sincerest thanks to everyone who has contributed to making this event a success.
We hope all of you can enjoy the essence of Korean literature and publications, which are the backbone of the “Korean Wave”, a current cultural phenomenon worldwide.
